Frequently Asked Questions

  • Alas not. Everything is for collection from the farm. On occasion we are able to do a delivery if it is on a team member’s route home, so it’s worth asking if you are desperate in case one of us can do it… but these are very much one-offs!

  • Not at the moment. (Collection only.) We can post our gift vouchers though.

  • Our PYO patches are intended really as just a fun activity, perhaps a thing to do with the kids or visitors, a flowery respite for when you need a bit of nature in your life. The selection is only a fraction of what we grow on the main flower field so, no, we highly recommend that you let US pick your wedding flowers for you from our main field (see DIY party flowers for more info)

  • It’s a working farm environment so there are lots of trip hazards (hoses, buckets of flowers etc), so we don’t formally welcome the public into the main flower field to wander around. However if it’s not too manic a picking day we generally don’t mind, but please understand that the team will be working to a tight schedule and won’t be able to answer questions…! If you’d like to come and talk to us about how we do everything, come on a private farm tour (link) as then you’ll get our undivided attention and we’ll be delighted to tell you all about our methods and approach!

  • Only as part of floristry workshops, when we’re able to guide and supervise. Our main flower field has all sorts of flowers that have particular harvesting requirements, or that are being kept back for weddings or particular orders, so it’s just too complicated to let the public pick there… Hence the PYO patches.

  • Yes, please. We pick your flowers the day before collection so that they can condition and hydrate overnight.

We try and have some flowers available for if you’re just passing and need a quick bouquet, but much the best way is to order flowers online if possible.

  • Yes please! We do have travel buckets available for £1, but they are not very sturdy and we would definitely recommend bringing your own buckets. (We do not allow our square florist buckets off the site as we use them all constantly.)

  • We are mostly retail, though we do work with a small number of florists. The best way to buy flowers from us if you are florist is to come and see what we’ve got, as you may find unusual varieties that will add that je ne sais quoi to a scheme, or look out for when we have occasional gluts eg (when all our climbing roses or clematis or hydrangeas are in flower and we have large quantities available). We also have lots of interesting foliages.  We don’t, however, send out availability lists or sell individual stems by the bucket.

  • Yes. It’s a composting loo - full farm experience!

  • We wish we did. We don’t have mains power at the farm which makes it difficult to offer these kind of facilities. We are hoping one day to have a good enough solar set up to be able to offer hot drinks,  but we’re not quite there yet.

  • Definitely, we love dogs. (Please keep them on a lead though.)

  • We’re so glad you asked, because there’s a lot you can do to increase the vase life of your flowers (and visa versa):

    • Make sure the stems are out of water for as short a time as possible.

    • When you get your flowers home, re-cut their stems at an angle with a sharp knife to help them take up fresh water.

    • Strip away any leaves below the water line, otherwise they can decompose and add bacteria to the water.

    • Flowers drink a lot! Keep the water in your vase topped up - you should always be able to feel water if you dip your finger into the mouth of the vase.

    • Keep the vase water really clean. Change the water regularly, ideally every day or two.

    • Flowers last for different lengths of time; they won’t all go over at once.  Edit the bunch as this happens. Remove any that are past their best, trim the stems of the ones that still have beauty and rearrange, in a smaller vase if need be.

    • Keep your flowers away from heaters and direct sunlight. They will last better in a cool spot.

  • We tend to close the farm shop once the weather gets too cold and windy (as it’s basically a tin hut in the middle of a field). However, we typically have fresh flowers available through to the end of November. You can order them as normal and collect from the farm (Monday to Friday) or we have a selection of dried and fresh flowers available at Nicholsons in North Aston throughout the winter months.

  • Yes, lots. These are available from Rosara at Nicholsons in North Aston between September and March.  Or get in touch for a bespoke arrangement/installation.

  • Yes, we love doing these. Let us know when you want to come. We recommend a 6pm to 7 pm slot on a weeknight between June and September, though we can accommodate day tours usually if preferred. Costs are £9 per head (minimum of 15 people required), for a guided behind-the-scenes tour, with a cup of tea or glass of Prosecco. Tours typically last 45-60 minutes.

  • Very possibly! Do you get in touch and we’ll try and help.

  • We only teach workshops on our farm I’m afraid, however we would gladly put you in touch with excellent colleagues in the area who would travel to your venue.
